Dear quantum innovation friends,
I hope this newsletter finds you well! Spring
is always a busy season, and this year is not an exception. It is not only busy
but also packed with exciting quantum-related events. For example, this week
QSIP was represented at Quantum Meets in
the Netherlands. Jon Winborg is now on his way back, and we’ll soon publish a
report on the various meetings in Amsterdam on our website.
Next week, May 20–22, it’s finally time for IQT Nordics—our
main event of 2025. As mentioned earlier, the theme of the conference is “Real-World
Applications and Progress Enabled by Quantum Technology.” In addition
to presentations and panel discussions, the conference will offer opportunities
to explore further Nordic collaborations in the field. Please visit the
conference website for the full program and list of speakers. If
you haven’t secured your spot yet, registration is still open. We’re looking
forward to many engaging interactions—both on and off stage!
If you're interested in the impact of quantum
technologies on health and life sciences, we highly recommend the newly
released report from Infinity by
Quantum Delta s such as:
- How are health and life
sciences companies already exploring the potential of quantum computing
and other quantum technologies?
- What opportunities lie ahead?
We’ve also launched a new article series
highlighting Swedish start-ups and SMEs in the quantum field. The first article
features an interview with Zaid Saeed, CEO of ScalinQ, and
earlier this week we published the second article, where Max Widarsson,
CEO of Svenska Laserfabriken, shares insights about the company. The
articles may be found on our website.
While our current focus remains on IQT
Nordics, we’ve already begun planning for our autumn activities. Two events we’d like to highlight are:
- AI + Quantum
Workshop – September 10, Luleå
- QSIP
Annual Days – October 1–2, Stockholm
Please save the dates, more information on
these events will be available on our website soon and in the next QSIP
newsletter.
Lastly, we’d like to inform you that the new Horizon
Europe work programmes have
recently been published. On April 29, QSIP hosted a webinar focused on EU
funding opportunities for Swedish stakeholders in the quantum technology
sector. The webinar featured Jeanette Spühler (Vinnova) and Nikolaos Xafenias
(Chalmers Industriteknik / EU SME Support), who provided an overview of all
three pillars of Horizon Europe. The discussion emphasized key funding
instruments such as QuantERA, EIC Accelerator, EIC Transition, EIC Pathfinder,
and Eurostars. Several upcoming calls within Cluster
4 (Digital, Industry and Space) of Horizon Europe pillar 2, will be relevant to
quantum technologies, including areas like post-quantum cryptography.
See you in the
quantum community, Camilla Johansson & Johan Felix, QSIP | If not already subscribing to this newsletter, please sign up via our website here. EU
strategy for Quantum Technology
QSIP has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at
influencing the forthcoming EU Strategy for Quantum Technologies. This includes
contributing to the drafting of the European Quantum Industry Consortium’s
(QuIC) communication, as well as participating in
national working groups alongside representatives from organizations such as
the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT), the Swedish Research
Council (VR), and Vinnova.
The European Commission has now launched a Call for Evidence for this strategy, providing an
opportunity for Swedish stakeholders to submit their views. The deadline for
submissions is June 3, 2025. |
DQC Annual Scientific meeting
We
had the pleasure of attending the second Annual Scientific Meeting organized by
the Danish Quantum Community, held on April 8–9. The two-day event was filled
with insightful presentations showcasing the impressive research progress being
made in Denmark.

WACQT
Industry Workshop
On April 24, QSIP had the pleasure of participating in WACQT’s annual
industry workshop. The day featured a series of engaging presentations focused
on collaboration opportunities, industrial needs, and real-world quantum use
cases. We were also delighted to present QSIP during a session alongside our
colleagues from the quantum ecosystems in both Denmark and Finland
